The playgrounds of the rich and famous at Clifton, Camps Bay and Hout Bay are passed through on our way to Cape Point. Overnight Cape Town. OPTIONS: Table Mountain by cable car, Penguins on Boulder Beach, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Sunset Cruise. DAY TWO. TOTAL: 247 KMS / 151 MILESCape Town - N1 to Stellenbosch - Somerset West - N2 to Sir Lowry's Pass - Grabouw - Viljoen's Pass - Franschhoek Pass - Franschhoek - Paarl - Du Toitskloof Pass - Worcester/Bre๋derivier - and the start of the historic Route 62 Head for Stellenbosch with its oak-shaded avenues and historic homes. The route takes us through the heart of the Cape Winelands. Drive up Sir Lowry's Pass with its spectacular views over False Bay, before turning inland again through Grabouw to Viljoen's Pass. Then follow the winding Franschhoek Pass to Franschhoek for lunch, before driving to Paarl, over the Du Toitskloof Pass. In Worcester you connect with the famous historic Route 62. Overnight Worcester. OPTIONS: Wine-tasting, Stellenbosch Village Museum, Vergelegen Estate, Huguenot Monument and Museum. DAY THREE DAY FOUR. TOTAL: 290 KMS / 179 MILESWorcester - Robertson - McGregor - Bonnievale - Kogmanskloof - Montagu Drive through the Valley of Wine and Roses as the Robertson valley is fondly known. Today you travel along the western half of Route 62 between lush vineyards, peach and apricot orchards neatly tended beneath the imposing Langeberg Mountains. Overnight Montagu/Bonnievale. OPTIONS: Visit the Kleinplasie Living Open Air Museum, the KWV Brandy Distillery, Breede River Wine Centre, Deetlefs Wine Estate, Cactus Gardens, Graham Beck Winery, Parmalat Cheese Factory, a cruise on the Breede River Goose or the Uncle Ben, at Viljoensdrift. DAY FIVE. TOTAL: 318 KMS / 198 MILESMontagu - Barrydale - Ladismith - Huisrivier Pass - Calitzdorp - Oudtshoorn The Langeberg Mountain range forms a natural barrier between the fertile farmlands of the Breede River Valley and the sunburned rock garden of the Little Karoo. Fertile valleys are linked to the Garden Route on the one side and the Groot Karoo on the other side by rugged, beautiful and historic mountain passes, such as the spectacular old Seweweekspoort Pass and Huisves Pass and Schoemanspoort. Overnight Oudtshoorn. OPTIONS: Ronnie's "Sex Shop", mission stations Amalienstein and Zoar, Wine and Port tasting, Cango Caves, Cango Ostrich Farm, Cheetah Ranch. DAY SIX. TOTAL: 290 KMS / 180 MILESOudtshoorn - Swartberg Pass - Prince Albert - Meiringspoort - Uniondale Poort - Langkloof - Avontuur - Misgund. Today Route 62 takes you along the Langkloof Fruit Route, flanked by the Groot Swartberg, Kammanassie and Kouga mountain ranges. This kloof stretches for 165km from Avontuur in the west to Kareedouw in the east and is still very much off-the-beaten track. The side-trip across the mountain via the Swartberg Pass is adventure not to be missed arrive in Prince Albert in time for lunch. Overnight Misgund/Joubertina. OPTIONS: Visit Die Hel en route to Prince Albert, 4x4 Zondaghsberg tour, Louterwater Apple farm tour, Strauss farm cheese outlet. DAY SEVEN. TOTAL: 235 KMS / 146 MILESMisgund - Joubertina - Twee Riviere - Kareedouw - Humansdorp - Port Elizabeth Today the Langkloof and Route 62 narrows down in the shadow of the Tsitsikamma Mountains as you make your way back to the coast crossing the N2 on the R330 to Humansdorp and Jeffrey's Bay. Take the old road across the old back road to Port Elizabeth and the end of Route 62. Overnight Port Elizabeth. OPTIONS: Oupa Walter Rover's schnapps distillery, Ceramics Academy, Rensilfer Cabinet Makers, Kareedouw Butchery. DAY EIGHT end of the road.Today you will have some time on hand to explore the area around Port Elizabeth, the Addo Elephant Park, or just relax on the beach before returning your vehicle and departing from Port Elizabeth.
