Quando Wines

"The art of producing fine wine is a long, slow
process. We come from a long lineage of grape
farmers, six generations in fact. Being
passionate about wine, our friends have
constantly asked us "when" were we going
to start producing our own wines. When at
last, we did build our very own cellar, we
decided to christen it QUANDO, the Latin
word for WHEN. We specialize in Sauvignon
Blanc which we grow and handcraft on our
farm between Robertson and Bonnievale."

This wine has its origins in a single vineyard
rooted in an ancient dry riverbed of the Breede
River valley. The soil profile is made up of a
two-meter alluvial sand layer on top of loose
riverbed gravel. The alluvial soil is expressed
in the wine with gooseberry and lemon
flavours with hints of pineapple and dried
peaches, while the loose gravel adds a flinty
dimension. This medium-bodied wine was
made reductively and has a well-structured
palate with an elegant, lingering finish.
